Yard Brooms & Brushes
Probably the most under rated, but highly used items in any stable are the brooms and brushes. Both of these items are essential to daily care of your stable. Basic corn brooms are used for keeping the aisles, the tack room, and other spaces inside your stable clean. Various types of brushes are used to keep things neat and tidy and ready to use on a moments notice.
There are various styles of brooms. Push brooms have a long, flat head and are mostly used to push dirt out of an area. Used to sweep out tack rooms, aisles, and horse trailers/horse boxes, sweeper brooms are upright with bristles that can be cut straight across or on an angle. Brooms can be made from different kinds of materials with the most common being corn, coco, and PVC. Harder or stiffer brooms work best on rough surfaces. Brooms with bristles made with a softer brush material work better on smoother surfaces. PVC brooms are very useful when sweeping up wetter and/or muddier debris. It is highly recommended that you have at least one push broom and one sweeper broom in the stable at all times so that you can keep all areas of your stable clean and dirt free.
