Using a mounting block is the preferred method of getting on a horse. By using a mounting block, the rider does not need to pull on the saddle that can put undue pressure on the horse’s spine. It is also safer than mounting a horse from the ground. Models are most often made of hard plastic, although there are models that are made from wood. Two-step and three-step models are the most popular. The steps should have treads to reduce the possibility of the rider slipping. Some mounting block models include a place for storing items. This storage area is accessible by lifting the tread of the top step. Lightweight yet durable, most barns will have several blocks of different sizes for riders to use – both in an indoor arena as well as outside – and will also have a mounting block in the trailer for on-the-road use. We offer a variety of styles and heights of high quality equestrian mounting blocks in different colours below.
